We would like to discuss the removal of the apple tree(s).
They have become an unbearable nuisance to the residents that live directly adjacent to the apple trees. They attract 1000's of flies and are a health hazard. Kids from off the block come and gather the apples, walk down the block and throw them at people's houses.
I really think people that don't live in front of the apples trees truly understand what it is like. We cant hardly sit on our stoop without flies attacking our kid our coming in our homes every time we open the door. Removal would also allow much needed sun light into the center of the park. I don't see any reason NOT to remove the large apple tree.
We would not suggest taking out a tree lightly, but fruit bearing trees really have no place in an urban environment. We would happily finance a more appropriate replacement tree.
If you disagree, please present a reasonable argument at the block meeting.
Thank you Drummonds 728 Medina St

For what it's worth, I make a habbit of picking up the apples any time I have a chance.
I enjoy sweeping Medina street for the exercise and to clean up the apples in the street.
Saturday, I picked up all the apples from the street and from the grass.
Maintenance doesn't take all that long, can be enjoyable and keep us from having to remove some of the oldest members of our block (the Trees).
Maybe more people can pitch in on clean-up duty more often?
